Abandoned Sonic Drive-In, and Fairgrounds In Anniston, Alabama

Many a time I've gone bowling, and swung by the Sonic for a bite to eat afterwards. At the time these photos were taken, I believe the fairgrounds were cleaned up once a year for the fair. Also, sleaze pioneer Dave Friedman ran the county fair. I don't believe it is clear in these pics, but directly across the street from the Sonic is a graveyard.

If you take a close look at the above pic, you can see the graveyard to the left, and the fairgrounds to the right, with the skeletal remains of a Sonic Drive-In smack dab in the middle.

The Calhoun Theater Has Seen Better Days

A few years ago, I took a photo tour of my hometown in Anniston, Alabama, to document the urban decay that seemed to be getting worse by the day. A quick Google of Anniston will reveal the pollution that has ruined the town. It was a depressing fucking place to grow up in.

All of the photos are up for viewing on my Flickr stream. These pics are of the Calhoun Theater, which has been vacant for as long as I can remember. My dad tells me that I saw Jaws, and Wolfen there among other movies.

The last time I was there the place had been cleaned up a bit, but it is still pretty bad.
